We have all been sick at one time or another. It is hard for me to relate back to my true feelings of when I am sick. At the time I would give anything not to be sick. So while I would never like to be sick it does give you a good opportunity for self reflection. I find myself thinking I am going to do everything I can to get well.

My main thoughts when sick are only of being healthy. These thoughts have to be continued after we get well again or you will get sick again sooner than later.

So what is being healthy all about?

I believe that health is finding a balance in your lifestyle. Too much of anything is detrimental to your health, whether you live your life in the gym, eat too much food, or work too many hours. These will all adversely affect your lifestyle and ultimately your health.

Finding your healthy balance is not an easy task but it should be a priority. It will also be unique to the individual and will need to be constantly fine-tuned.

I am apt to overtraining and this is a weakness that I must balance. I will have to force myself to do it but I know that it must be done. Obviously this year there is a good chance I will get sick at some stage but I am not going to wait till then to make plans to be healthier.

I recently added running back into my training. I used to run a lot in high school and honestly it is not my favorite exercise. The reason I added it in was that I felt it was an area of my training that was lacking and to help me balance my training volume. I will mix it up between short and longer runs. Time will tell if it will help me find my training balance and ultimately my health.

Weaknesses are stagnant and will only hinder your balance. Don’t shy away from hardship. It will make you stronger and healthier.

I wish you the best of luck finding your healthy balance.
